Pineapple guava (Acca sellowiana) is a hardy, evergreen shrub that thrives in mild-to-temperate regions. USDA zones 8-11.  It produces stunning, edible flowers and aromatic, tropical fruit. The plant adapts well to diverse landscaping needs—from specimen trees, privacy hedges to large containers. Grows 6-15 foot tall. Silver green evergreen foliage.

It is remarkably cold-hardy for a fruit-bearing evergreen, tolerating temperatures down to 15 degrees. However, prolonged exposure to temperatures under 15 degrees can cause significant damage and negatively impact the following season's fruit production. Usually leaves drop when temperatures get below 12 degrees, but usually regrow the next Spring like a deciduous tree. Give wind protection and a sheltered environment if grown in USDA zones below zone 8.

Pineapple guava (Acca sellowiana)  also known as feijoa, prefers full sun (at least 6 hours of direct light daily) for maximum fruit and flower production, but it will tolerate partial shade.

Thrives in rich, slightly acidic to neutral, well-draining soil. While drought-tolerant once established, you will get the best harvest if you provide regular, deep watering during dry summer months.

Requires only 50–200 chill hours below 45 degrees to set good fruit. However, they do not like extreme heat (temperatures consistently over 100 degrees. so they appreciate afternoon shade in very hot climates).

Pineapple guava are virtually pest-free, deer-resistant, and respond very well to pruning.

Considered self-fertile, but planting two different trees nearby often yields a significantly larger, higher-quality harvest.
