Dakota Pinnacle® Asian White Birch (*Betula platyphylla* 'Fargo')
Sold out until June 2026- Will open to order in April 2026
A deciduous tree with a narrow, columnar growth habit, reaching heights of 30 to 40 feet and a spread of 10 to 12 feet at maturity. Developed by North Dakota State University. Thriving in USDA Zones 3 through 7, it prefers full sun to partial shade and is adaptable to various soil types, provided they are well-drained. This cultivar is noted for its smooth white bark, which exfoliates slightly as it matures, and its dark green foliage that turns golden yellow in the fall. With moderate drought tolerance once established and above-average resistance to the bronze birch borer, it requires medium maintenance, including pruning during the dormant season to remove dead or damaged branches. Its striking appearance makes it an excellent choice for vertical accents in landscapes.
Like Maples, do not prune in Winter or Spring, as sap is running and tree will bleed.
