Oregon Sunshine (πΈππππβπ¦πππ’π πππππ‘π’π)
Common Woolly Sunflower
A low-maintenance, native perennial that is easily grown in sunny, well draining, dry, and rocky locations, making it ideal for rock gardens, parking strips, and wildflower meadows. It features bright yellow, daisy-like flowers that bloom from spring to early fall and attracts pollinators like bees and butterflies. Traditional uses include rubbing the leaves on skin to prevent chapping and body aches and using the flowers as a love charm.
Oregon Sunshine is drought-tolerant and deer-resistant. Grows to about one to two feet tall.Β It serves as a caterpillar host and larval food source for seven species of butterflies and moths, including the Orange Sulphur and Painted Lady. This "workhorse species" is used in habitat restoration projects. Eriophyllum lanatum is native to western North America, with its range extending from British Columbia down through California and east into Montana, Wyoming, and Utah. Hardy in USDA Zone 3-10.Β
