Katsura Tree, Cercidiphyllum japonicum
15-20 Inch Potted Tree
The Katsura’s heart-shaped leaves provide an array of color throughout the year; emerging reddish-purple in spring, maturing into a blue-green, and becoming a clear apricot red color in fall.
It is a deciduous tree suitable for USDA Zones 4–8. Thriving in full sun to part shade, it prefers rich, moist, well-drained soils and is intolerant of drought. This medium to large tree grows approximately 15–20 feet within five years and matures at 40–60 feet in height with a spread of 25–60 feet. With low maintenance requirements, it serves well as a shade or specimen tree.
