Grand Fir, (Abies grandis)

A majestic and stately evergreen tree native to the Pacific Northwest region of North America. This magnificent conifer is esteemed for its impressive size, aromatic foliage, and ornamental value. Also used widely as a Christmas tree.

Thriving in moist, well-drained soil and partial shade to full sun, the Grand Fir prefers cool and moist environments. It's generally hardy in USDA zones 5 to 6, and zones 7 and 8 on the West Coast.

This fir tree typically grows to towering heights of 200 feet or more in its native habitat, with a pyramidal shape and horizontal branches adorned with flat, glossy, dark green needles. The foliage emits a pleasant citrus scent when crushed, adding to its allure and making it an attractive choice for ornamental and aromatic landscapes. Makes a great Christmas Tree.

The Grand Fir is sought after for its use as a timber tree and for its ornamental value in larger landscapes. Its towering height and symmetrical form make it an impressive focal point or windbreak in spacious garden settings.

Plant Grand Fir in well-drained, slightly acidic soil and providing regular watering, especially during dry periods or in its early establishment.
