Sarcococca hookeriana var. humilis also called sweetbox is a low-growing, broadleaf evergreen shrub that grows to 1-2 foot tall and spreads by stolons. Has a very fragrant, tiny white flowers that bloom in late winter / early spring. Leaves are dark green and glossy. Grows in part to full shade in moist well drained organic soils in USDA zones 6-8. No insect or disease problems. Great for an evergreen ground cover, border or low hedge. One of the earliest shrubs to bloom in the spring and one of the most fragrant. A great alternate to dwarf boxwood in shady locations.
