Purple Robe Locust (Robinia pseudoacacia 'Purple Robe') is a fast-growing, deciduous tree that thrives in USDA Zones 4-8. Known for its stunning, fragrant clusters of rosy-pink to purple blooms in late spring, this tree adds seasonal beauty to any landscape.
It prefers full sun to partial shade and adapts well to a variety of well-draining soils, including poor or rocky types. Growing quickly to a height of 30-40 feet with a spread of 20-25 feet, it is ideal for urban planting, erosion control, or as an accent tree in wildlife gardens. Has excellent drought and cold tolerance. Its bright green, fern-like leaves provide light shade in summer, transitioning to yellow in the fall.
