Garlic

The garlic we sell is grown at small Idaho farm in an allium quarantine zone and certified white rot-free. White rot is a soil-borne disease that can destroy garlic crops and persist for decades. Annual inspections and certifications ensure disease free seed garlic.

Garlic is grown organically, but is not certified organic. We can ship to all States!

We offer several types of Garlic.

ARTICHOKE SOFTNECK

Artichoke softneck garlics are very vigorous and produce big garlic bulbs. Many will have 3 to 5 layers ‘overlapping like an artichoke’ with 12 to 20 cloves per bulb. Wrappers are white and often contain light purple blotches. Top leaves may fall over a week or two before harvest because of there week necks (softneck). Bulbs can be large, round, and symmetrical while others are asymmetrical and knobby. Very long storage when properly cured.

Varieties include: Early Italian, Susanville, Early Italian Purple, and Inchelium Red

PURPLE STRIPE HARDNECK

Named for the bright purple streaks and blotches that can be found on both the bulb wrappers and skin of the cloves. Very flavorful. Most strains have 8-12 cloves per bulb. Store slightly longer then other hardneck garlics and are easy to peel.

Varieties include: Chesnok Red, Purple Glazer, Persian Star

MARBLED PURPLE STRIPE HARDNECK

During the growing season the plants are similar to Purple Stripes, but upon harvest the bulbs look more like Rocamboles.  Large bulbs with 4-8 large cloves per bulb.

Varieties include:  Metechi

ASIATIC HARDNECK

The scape of the Asiatic hardneck are usually short and coiled. Bulbs are usually striped with fine lines that run from top to bottom. Cloves are thick and skins are semi-glossy. Asiatic bulbs tend to mature very suddenly and should be harvested while they are a bit greener than other varieties so that the wrappers won’t split.

 Varieties include: Korean Red

ROCAMBOLE HARDNECK

Large, easy to peel cloves with a rich, full flavor.  Shorter shelf life than most garlic - eat them first!  Hearty flavor that makes this garlic a joy in the kitchen. Excellent to eat raw.

Varieties include:   Spanish Roja

PORCELAIN HARDNECK

These garlics are show stoppers, both in the garden with tall plants and in the kitchen with extra large bulbs and cloves.  These have the fewest and largest cloves of any variety, with many bulbs having 4-6 cloves per bulb.

Varieties include:  Music, Montana
