Fig trees are perhaps the most productive of any fruit tree. Fig varieties bears sweet fruit July through August in cooler climates and again in early fall in warmer climates. Prefers full sun and well draining soil. Self pollinating, so you do not need a second fig. Pick the warmest, sunniest spot to plant your fig tree. Figs are best pruned to not get over 10-12 feet tall.

Figs are excellent for eating fresh, drying, canning or using in jams and desserts.

Figs are usually deer resistant. Not bothered by diseases in USDA Zones up to 9. In hotter zones, needs very good air circulation. Can be grown in a large container and overwintered in greenhouses, garages or basements in colder climates such as USDA Zone 5. Winter root mulching is recommended in USDA Zone 6.

If you are planning to plant in a container for a season, we recommend our General Purpose Greenhouse Mix.
