Vaccinium vitis-idaea ‘Red Candy’ PP#22,105 is the delicious lingonberry that bears fruit earlier and more profusely than other selections! Berries work great in jams, pies, crepes and other tasty treats, or simply enjoy them straight off the plant. A north American native for all to enjoy!
‘Red Candy’ is very winter hardy in USDA Zone 4 - 9 and maintains a compact habit, growing to just 8-inches tall by 10-inches wide. Has shiny dark green leaves and pink white flowers. Best grown in partial shade to full shade, in moist but well-drained, acidic soil, that is rich in organic matter and peat moss. Makes an excellent fruiting container plant as well as compact low growing ground cover.
