Kotato Trailing Blackberry - Unique Flavor- Small Seeds
Selected in the 1950's and still poplar because of it's unique flavor, small seeds and firm dark black berries. Kotato is a cross between Boysenberry, Native West Coast blackberry, Native Eastern blackberry and Loganberry. It has medium size berries that are sweet and juicy. This thorned variety has a trailing habit and has better cold tolerance than most blackberry varieties. It is a early/mid season variety that ripens earlier than Marionberry. Grows in USDA zone 5a to 9.
A favorite for honeybees, flowers produce good quantities of nectar, which yields a dark fruity honey.
