Black Diamond Thornless Blackberry

It is a cross between Kotato and a New Zealand thornless blackberry. Developed by USDA in Corvallis Oregon and Oregon State University. Recommended for home gardeners in USDA zone 6-9.

This easy to grow blackberry  is a thornless alternative to Marionberry. Harvest time is similar to Marion. Has small seeds and a flavor similar to Marion, just a little milder. Yields are a little more than Marion. More cold hardy than Marion, and has excellent disease resistance.

Plant every 5-6 foot apart. Canes are trailing and require a trellis or fence.  Begins bearing fruit a year after planting. Requires 400 to 500 chill hours to produce fruit.

Starter plants. 5-8 inches tall in 2 inch cell/pot. Pots removed for shipping.

2 year old plants. 5 1/2 inch deep pot. Plants will be pruned to fit into a 24 or 36 inch shipping box. Ships 3 Day UPS.


Potted plants are produced from tissue culture for disease free plants. 
Pots may be removed for shipping.
Shipped with leaves in Spring and Summer, and without leaves in Fall and Winter.
