White Mulberry (Morus alba) is a fast-growing, adaptable, deciduous tree (30–60 ft). It is popular for its sweet, white-to-black fruits and dense foliage, hardy in USDA Zones 4–9. Native to China, it is ideal for wildlife, erosion control, or quick shade, but often invasive and messy. It thrives in full sun, well-drained soil, and is drought-tolerant. Fast growth makes it effective for quick shade.

It’s high-sugar fruits attract birds, and is great to plant in chicken pens. They are typically sweeter and less tart than red or black mulberries. Fruits can be eaten fresh, dried, or made into jams.

White mulberry (Morus alba) fruits are highly variable, commonly ranging in color from white to pink, lavender, or deep purple/black when fully ripe. While they can be white, it is very common for them to turn  pale red,  and dark purple-black at maturity. "White" actually refers to the color of the tree's buds or flowers rather than the fruit itself.

Mulberry trees are banned or restricted in some US cities and states, primarily due to male trees causing severe allergies from pollen and their invasive growth, with specific bans in cities like El Paso, Las Vegas, Albuquerque, Phoenix and Tucson, and states like Illinois, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee having invasive status or bans.  Laws vary by location; check local ordinances as male, pollen-heavy mulberry trees are often the target for bans due to environmental and health concerns. We do not ship to locations where the tree is banned or listed as invasive.
