Lingonberry Red Candy
BERRIES ARE LONG LASTING & PLENTIFUL! A GREAT WAY TO ADD COLOR & TEXTURE TO FALL PLANTERS AND LANDSCAPES.
Vaccinium vitis-idaea ‘Red Candy’ PP#22,105 is the delicious lingonberry that bears fruit earlier and more profusely than other selections! Berries work great in jams, pies, crepes and other tasty treats, or simply enjoy them straight off the plant. A north American native for all to enjoy!
‘Red Candy’ is very winter hardy to USDA Zone 4 and maintains a compact habit, growing to just 8-inches tall by 10-inches wide. Has shiny dark green leaves and pink white flowers. Best grown in partial shade to shade, in moist but well-drained, acidic soil, that is rich in organic matter and peat moss. Makes an excellent fruiting container plant as well as compact low growing ground cover.
If you are planning to plant in a container for a season, we recommend our Lingonberry potting soil mix. If you are planting in the ground we offer individual components to add to your soil if you can not fine them locally. Sawdust should be 10% of your soil mix, plus an additional 2 inches as a mulch to keep soil moist. As sawdust breaks down, it lowers your pH.
This Lingonberry potting soil mix is what professional growers would use for the best growth and performance of their Lingonberry plants.
Components include:
30% - 3/8" minus- Fine Fir Bark, unscreened.
10% - Fir sawdust
15% - 3/8" minus Natural Cascade Mountain Volcanic Pumice. Unscreened.
25% - Peat Moss
10% - Perlite
10% - Vermiculite
