A hardy herbaceous, perennial mint with bright serrated green leaves that spreads through rhizomes. Also known as ‘common mint,’ ‘garden mint,’ ‘lamb mint,’ or ‘mackerel mint,’ spearmint has been used as a herb for thousands of years. Spearmint prefers partial shade with rich loamy soil. Spearmint is often kept in containers to keep the plant’s invasive nature in check.
